Nürburgring 24h-Race: Two Top 10s for Team FALKEN Motorsports with 6th and 10th Finishes Overall Plus FALKEN Tire-Equipped Cars Score Wins in 3 Classes

Jun 19, 2024

FALKEN competed as Team FALKEN Motorsports in the recent Nürburgring 24h-Race (Official Name: ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring), which was held in Nürburg, Germany this past May 30 through June 2. The Porsche 911 GT3R car No. 33 finished 6th overall, and car No. 44 finished 10th. This marks the eleventh consecutive year since 2014 that Team FALKEN Motorsports has placed in the Top 10 at this world-class touring race.

Meanwhile, the SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2024, which competed in the SP4T class, claimed its first class win since switching the class, celebrating the final race for Team General Manager Hideharu Tatsumi with a triumphant finish.
Team FALKEN Motorsports went in with a pair of new Porsche 911 GT3R racecars (Car No. 33 and Car No. 44). Following a stellar performance in the qualifying rounds held on May 30 and 31, both cars headed to the main event on June 1, where No. 33 and No. 44 started out in 10th and 14th, respectively. The race started at 16:00 watched by 240,000 spectators, a crowd even larger than the last year’s.
This year’s race was plagued by rain and fog, from even before the beginning. Although the weather improved briefly, dense fog covered the entire course at night, leading to a temporary suspension around 23:30. The fog persisted into the next morning and did not clear even after midday. All cars rejoined the track behind the safety car to resume the race at around 13:30, but with no improvement in weather conditions, Race Control eventually made a decision to end the race. This was the first time in Nürburgring history that the race was brought to a close before the end of the 24 hours.

Despite the race starting in difficult track conditions and challenging environment, the two FALKEN Motorsports cars got off to a promising start thanks to good tire choices. The FALKEN tires performed excellently on the cold, dry nighttime track, in particular, repeatedly setting the best lap times. Both of the FALKEN Porsche finished the challenging race without any mechanical or tire issues, with Car No. 33 finishing 6th and Car No. 44, 10th. This year’s edition, running about 7 hours and 30 minutes and completing 50 laps (approximately 1,269 km), stands out as an unusually short race in its long history.

The SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL’s SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2024, which competed in the SP4T class, established a lead from an early stage without any mechanical issues, and maintained a solid performance throughout the race. It finished 51st overall, claiming its first class win since entering the SP4T class last year. Other teams FALKEN supported also achieved podium finishes in all classes, a testament to the superior performance of FALKEN tires.
